So last month, I told my boyfriend that I was swearing off wheat for 30 days to see if it is the source of some problems I have been having. First, let me say I have not been diagnosed with Celiac disease. But I do believe I have a sensitivity to wheat flour that shows up in my skin. For the past few years I have begun to have cystic like breakouts and believe the root of it is internal. So I have started to eliminate some things from my diet that may be the culprit. So I am starting with wheat and have added dairy products, because in my heart I feel it is either or, or both. I will be honest with you it has been very difficult for me. My favorite foods contain wheat: cookies, cakes, donuts, breads, pasta, muffins…..sigh. It was PURE torture in the beginning. I was tempted by funnel cake at a festival, Cinnabons at the mall, fresh baked Cuban bread at a cafe in Miami….sigh. Ok, ok, I confess, I had a little Cuban bread!! Dammit, I was on vacation!!;) But even though it has been very difficult, I am going to keep pressing forward. I have become one of the box readers in the store. I go on trips to Trader Joe’s. Whole Foods and my local health food store in the gluten free aisle looking for something to eat without wheat that is tasty. It has been mixed. And expensive. So I buy a few products at a time to try. I will do a video soon to review some products but so far I have found frozen pancakes, pasta and a pizza crust that I like. So there is hope:) And I will say though I have not seen any dramatic results in my skin yet, I have lost weight. I am less bloated and have more energy. This may all be because I am not eating as many processed food, because I can’t. I don’t eat much fast food anymore or anything in a box, bag or can. So hey, it is a good thing anyway. And if I am wrong, I will go up to Krispy Kreme when the Hot Donuts Now light is on and put them out of business…just kiddin;)
